Application Fee Waiver for Early Action and Regular Admission

The Admissions Office accepts fee waiver requests submitted from guidance counselors using the official NACAC Application Fee Waiver form. A written letter from the guidance counselor, indicating that the fee would present a financial hardship for the student, may also be submitted on behalf of the student requesting a fee waiver. All fee waiver requests must be attached to the Personal Data Form and mailed to:

Georgetown University

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I request a fee waiver?

Applicants requesting a fee waiver must submit the personal data form (Part I of the application) with their fee waiver request letter by mail, as our database does not allow us to receive fee waiver requests on-line. Applicants must print out the personal data form and mail it together with the NACAC Application Fee Waiver form or a fee waiver request letter.

    Our address is:

    The Office of Undergraduate Admissions
    Georgetown University
    Washington, DC 20057

Once you have mailed in Part I with your fee waiver request, you will have the option to complete Part II of the application online. You will be prompted to enter your Georgetown University ID number on the first page of the Part II, but you may simply type “Fee Waiver” in that space if you have not received your Georgetown ID number at that point.

Does the fee waiver form have to be completed by a guidance counselor?

You are welcome to submit the College Board or the NACAC fee waiver forms, which should be completed by your guidance counselor. In lieu of the official forms, your counselor may write a brief fee waiver request letter explaining that the application fee would present a hardship to you and your family.

Can International applicants request a fee waiver?

Definitely. International students should follow the same process detailed above.

Can transfer students request a fee waiver?

Transfer students may also submit fee waiver requests. They should request that their academic counselor or advisor at their current institution write a statement explaining that the fee would pose an economic hardship, and submit this letter with Part I of the application.

What should I do if my school sends out the fee waiver request with the rest of my application materials?

It is best if your fee waiver letter is submitted with your personal data form. If that is not possible, please submit your Part I through the mail instead of online as requested above and simply attach a note indicating that your guidance counselor will submit the fee waiver request.

If I am submitting a fee waiver request, when should I send in my application to Georgetown?

The application deadline is the same for all applicants, irrespective of whether they are requesting a fee waiver; however, we encourage all applicants to submit Part I of their application as soon as they decide to apply because it allows us to open your admissions file and initiate the alumni interview assignment process.
