Georgetown welcomes transfer applications from students who have attended community colleges or four-year colleges and universities. Transfer applicants must have graduated from high school or earned high school diploma equivalent, and completed one full-time semester of at least 12 credits at the college level. High school students currently enrolled in a dual enrollment program, earning both high school and college credit towards their high school graduation requirements, must submit the first-year application.
Requirements
Each year, the admissions committee evaluates approximately 1700 applications for transfer. Typically, a cumulative B+ average or higher is recommended for consideration for admission. Transfer applicants must provide an official transcript from their current institution and any previously attended institution(s) to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Applicants are required to submit recommendation letters from a professor and a college Dean, the Dean's report verifies that the applicant is in good academic standing at his/her current institution. High school transcripts are required for all applicants, as well as SAT and/or ACT scores. If, however, a transfer applicant has been out of high school for more than 5 years, the SAT/ACT requirement is waived. Transfer students are admitted only for the Fall semester. Those admitted for the fall, however, may begin with the summer session.
