Transfer Application Requirements and Forms
In order to be certain that your application is properly processed and the Admissions Committee has a complete and accurate picture of your academic and personal accomplishments, you will need to submit the following items as part of your application to Georgetown.
Georgetown Transfer Application
- The only way to apply to Georgetown is through the Georgetown Transfer Application.
- The Georgetown Application is a two-part application, and after submission of the Transfer Application (Part 1), you will receive access to the Transfer Application Supplement.
Georgetown Transfer Application Supplement
- The Georgetown Transfer Application Supplement is the second part of the application, and consists of questions about your academic and personal background, as well as short answer and essay questions.
- The Transfer Application Supplement is due on March 1.
Secondary School Report
- A Secondary School Report, consisting of an official high school transcript, counselor recommendation letter, and high school profile, is requested of all transfer applicants.
- Your high school may submit these documents through the Georgetown-specific report form, which can be requested through your application, or upload the materials through Slate.org or Scoir.
- We understand that not all schools will be able to provide a full Secondary School Report for transfer applicants, and therefore only an official high school transcript is required.
- Applicants presenting GED documentation should submit those credentials by email to transferadmissions@georgetown.edu. A high school transcript, even if incomplete, is still requested to complete all transfer application files.
Official College Transcripts
- College Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that you have attended must be sent directly from the college or university to our office.
- Transcripts can be sent to transferadmissions@georgetown.edu through whichever platform your school uses to send transcripts. Please note that on platforms such as Parchment or National Student Clearinghouse, you will need to manually enter our email address in order for your transcript to be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Dean’s Report
- A Dean’s Report (sometimes referred to as a College Report) must be completed by an academic official at your current (or most recent) institution to verify that you are in good academic and disciplinary standing.
- You will be able to send a request for the Dean’s Report to the academic official completing the form through your Application Supplement. If necessary, you can find a PDF version of the form here, and a school official can email the completed form to transferadmissions@georgetown.edu.
Professor’s Report
- A college or university professor, ideally from your proposed area of study, must submit a recommendation letter.
- You will be able to send a request for the Professor’s Report to your professor through your Application Supplement. If necessary, a letter of recommendation can be emailed by the professor to transferadmissions@georgetown.edu.
Standardized Test Scores
- Georgetown requires SAT or ACT scores for all applicants who have graduated from high school within five years of their intended matriculation date at Georgetown.
- Georgetown requires submission of official standardized test scores.
- SAT: Scores should be submitted through the College Board. Georgetown’s CEEB Code is 5244.
- ACT: Scores should be submitted directly through the ACT website. Georgetown’s ACT Code is 0668.
- Please note that if you have previously applied to Georgetown and submitted standardized test scores, you do not need to re-send these scores to our office.
Alumni Interview
- While Georgetown strives to make alumni interviews available to every applicant, some students will not be assigned to an interviewer due to a scarcity of available alumni volunteers. If you are assigned to an interviewer, you are required to complete that interview. If your interview is not assigned, it will have no negative effect on your admissions decision.
- The interview presents an opportunity for applicants to share their story, expand upon information captured in other portions of the application, and highlight any key information for the Admissions Committee.
- Topics that may come up include: academic interests, extracurricular activities, summer experiences, family background, future plans, and exposure to Georgetown.
- Finally, students should use the interview to learn more about Georgetown and the Georgetown community from the perspective of an alumnus. An evaluative report will be submitted and become part of the student’s admissions file following the interview.
Financial Aid Application (Optional)
- Georgetown offers only need-based financial aid, and guarantees to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for all US Citizens and Permanent Residents.
- To apply for financial aid, students must submit both the FAFSA (for US Citizens/Permanent Residents) and the CSS Profile.
- International Citizens applying for transfer admission are not eligible for need-based financial aid.
- For more information on the financial aid process, please review the Office of Student Financial Aid website.
