Transfer Applicants

Transfer students are an integral part of the fabric of the Georgetown community. We welcome transfer applications from all qualified students, including those who attend 2-year, 4-year, and international institutions.

Spring 2027 Transfer Application Now Available

Georgetown University is offering a separate transfer application round for entry in January 2027. This is open to those who are first or second year students at their current institution. The deadline to apply is November 1, 2026.

Application Process and Requirements

  • Applicants are required to apply directly to one of Georgetown’s six undergraduate schools, and must select a major when applying. You can explore our full list of programs on our Academic Offerings page.
  • Please note that transfer applicants are not eligible to apply to the following majors:
    • American Studies
    • Business and Global Affairs
    • International Business, Language, and Culture

  • Spring 2027 Transfer Application Deadline: November 1, 2026
  • Fall 2027 Transfer Application Deadline: March 1, 2027

  • The only way to apply as a transfer student to Georgetown is through the Georgetown Application
  • After submitting Part 1 of the application, you will receive an email with a link to complete the Georgetown Transfer Application Supplement.
  • The Supplement will consist of additional questions about your background, as well as short answer and essay questions.
  • The Application and Supplement are due by November 1 (for Spring 2027 entry) or March 1 (for Fall 2027 entry).

  • Georgetown University offers two degree programs, an A.B. in Public Policy and a B.S. in Environment & Sustainability, that provide students with the opportunity to study on both our Hilltop and Capitol campuses. Both programs allow students to complete a Georgetown education while living in the heart of our nation’s capitol on the Capitol Campus during their junior and senior year.
  • Transfer students entering Georgetown at the start of their junior year will spend their entire Georgetown experience living and studying on our  Capitol Campus. Students entering Georgetown at the start of their sophomore year will spend one year on the Hilltop Campus, followed by two years at the Capitol Campus.
  • Given the unique nature of these programs and the coursework offered at our Capitol Campus, students transferring to these programs are expected to have fulfilled a significant portion of Georgetown’s core requirements at their current institution. Specific expectations for each of the two programs can be found on our Transfer Coursework Suggestions page.

  • Currently, the Admissions Committee has made available a transfer application specifically for the Spring of 2027.
    • This application is available now, with a deadline of November 1.
    • This application is available to current to current first and second year students.
  • Beginning in October, the application for the Fall of 2027 and Spring of 2028 will be available.
    • On your application, you will have the opportunity to indicate an interest in both Fall and Spring entry to Georgetown. Applicants who indicate an interest in both terms will first be reviewed for Fall admission.
    • Spring admission through this process is generally an opportunity reserved for rising sophomores due to Georgetown’s requirement to complete four semesters on campus in order to graduate.

  • Applicants to majors in the humanities and social sciences within the College of Arts & Sciences will have the opportunity to be considered for admission to the CALL Program, in addition to our traditional transfer pathway.
  • Students admitted through the CALL Program will spend their first semester at Georgetown’s Capitol Campus, before transitioning to the Hilltop Campus for the remainder of their time at the University.
  • Interested applicants will need to affirmatively indicate their interest in CALL consideration when prompted within the transfer application, and provide a brief statement of interest in the CALL as related to personal and career goals.
  • Indicating an interest in CALL consideration will not lessen an applicant’s chances for traditional transfer admission pathways.

  • Alumni Interviews are a key part of Georgetown’s application process, allowing us to learn more about students’ experiences, college goals, and interest in the University.
  • While we cannot guarantee interviews for all transfer applicants, we endeavor to assign interviews to as many applicants as possible. If you are assigned to an interviewer, completion of the interview is expected.
  • Alumni Interviews for transfer applicants will take place in March and April each year.
  • Please note that Alumni Interviews will not be offered for our Spring 2027 application round.

  • Georgetown requires submission of either SAT or ACT scores as part of the application process for any applicant who graduated from high school within the past five years.
    • For students taking the ACT, we highly recommend taking the Science section, especially if planning to major in the sciences.
  • Georgetown requires submission of official standardized test scores.
    • SAT or AP: Scores should be submitted through the College Board. Georgetown’s CEEB Code is 5244.
    • ACT: Scores should be submitted directly through the ACT website. Georgetown’s ACT Code is 0668.

  • Once your full application has been submitted, you can request to have any necessary changes made through our Application Change Form.
