We look forward to welcoming you to Washington, DC! Please use the resources below to plan your visit to campus and your time in the city.

Getting to the Hilltop Campus

The first stop for most visitors is our historic Hilltop Campus in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. Given limited parking options in the neighborhood, we recommend that visitors use public transportation to get to our campus.

  • Taxi or Rideshare: Please instruct your driver to take you to the front gates of Georgetown University, located at 3700 O St., NW.
  • Bus: For those arriving by bus, the main bus line that serves the University is the C91. Please explore the WMATA website for a schedule of bus arrivals and departures.
  • Georgetown Shuttles: Georgetown University operates shuttles to campus from key locations across the D.C. area, including the two closest Metro stops (Dupont Circle and Rosslyn). You can find timetables and pickup locations on the GUTS website.
  • Flying: The Washington, DC area is home to 3 major airports.
    • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA): 5 Miles from Campus
    • Dulles International Airport (IAD): 25 Miles from Campus
    • Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI): 40 Miles from Campus

Free two-hour street parking is available throughout the Georgetown neighborhood outside the front gates of campus. Please note that availability is limited, and vehicles may be ticketed by the city after more than two hours of parking. Georgetown is not responsible for any parking tickets received.

Paid visitor parking is available on campus in the Southwest Garage. To access the Southwest Garage, you will need to enter campus through Canal Rd. NW. Parking is available for $5/hour.

Additional parking garages are available in the Georgetown Neighborhood, approximately a 10 minute walk from campus. Options include:

  • Worldwide Parking Solutions – 3251 Prospect St. NW
  • Georgetown Park – 1080 Wisconsin Ave. NW

From the main entrance gates of the University (at 37th & O Streets NW), turn right as you enter campus and you will be headed in the direction of the White-Gravenor Building.

The Office of Undergraduate Admission is located in the White-Gravenor Building, Room 103, and is accessible through the center doors off the patio.

You can use this map to find your way around campus. 

ADA accessible parking can be found in our on-campus parking garage, the Southwest Parking Garage. We recommend that guests with mobility limitations be dropped off at our Front Gates, located at the corner of 37th & O Streets NW. For guests requiring walking accommodations or ADA-accessible paths, please reference the following map. We encourage all visitors to call our office with any questions or concerns at 202-687-3600.

Getting to the Capitol Campus

Our Capitol Campus is located close to Capitol Hill in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. As there is limited parking in the downtown area, we recommend using public transportation for your visit to the Capitol Campus.

  • Taxi or Rideshare: Georgetown Capitol Campus tours begin from 111 Massachusetts Ave., and taxis can drop off passengers in front of the building.
  • Metro: The Capitol Campus is accessible via the Union Station or Judiciary Square stations on the Red Line.
  • Bus: Numerous Metrobuses serve the Capitol Campus area. Please use the WMATA Trip Planner to find the most convenient route to 111 Massachusetts Ave. from your current location.
  • Georgetown Shuttle: The GUTS Capitol Campus shuttle runs from the Hilltop Campus (in the Georgetown neighborhood) to the Capitol Campus. You can find information on timetables and pickup locations on the GUTS website.

  • There is no University-owned visitor parking available at the Capitol Campus.
  • Some street parking is available on surrounding streets.
  • Nearby non-Georgetown garages are available at the following locations:
    • 601 New Jersey Ave. NW
    • 200 Massachusetts Ave. NW

Exploring the Georgetown Neighborhood

Georgetown’s Hilltop Campus is situated within the historic Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC. Georgetown students are integrated into the culture of the neighborhood, and play an important part in the vibrant fabric of this community. We invite you to take some time to explore the neighborhood before or after your campus visit to better understand the day-to-day life of a Georgetown student. 

The Georgetown neighborhood is characterized by its colorful federal style townhouses, and cobblestone tree-lined streets that lead to the core of the neighborhood along Wisconsin Avenue and M Street. The neighborhood boasts many coffee shops and restaurants, bookstores and shopping, and a waterfront park along the banks of the Potomac River.
